New Cyber Security Agency to be set up in April, Yaacob Ibrahim to be minister in charge of cyber security. The new Cyber Security Agency (CSA), which operates from April, will be formed under and funded by the Prime Minister’s Office. It will bring under one roof the oversight of 10 critical sectors including power, transport and telecommunications.

Microsoft launched its Cybercrime Satellite Centre in Singapore. To enhance cybersecurity across Asia and in Singapore, Microsoft launched its Cybercrime Satellite Centre in the Republic on Monday (Feb 16).

New Singtel-FireEye cybersecurity centre launched. A new cybersecurity operations centre to serve the Asia Pacific region was launched on Wednesday (Feb 25). Run by telco Singtel and US-based cybersecurity firm FireEye, the Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC) is sited at Singtel’s Comcentre along Exeter Road.

Local universities are stepping up education efforts in the area of cybersecurity with new initiatives. These include benchmarking cybersecurity specialisations against international standards and introducing new cyber-information security degrees at the Bachelors and Masters levels.

Temasek Poly sets up IT security and forensics hub. To increase the pool of trained cyber security specialists, an IT security and forensics hub has been set up at Temasek Polytechnic.

Singapore Business Federation (SBF) launches Employee Cyber Security Kit for businesses. The Employee Cyber Security Kit is a plug-and-play digital toolkit for companies to guide employee cyber security awareness efforts. The SBF said this toolkit will help businesses achieve a structured employee education program with minimal time, investment and manpower.
