Need some expert advise.

I am an experienced Senior IT Consultant working in ATM industry. ?˜I am very keen to progress my career to IT security and about to?˜take post-diploma Information Sec and Forensics course at TP. ?˜The course includes VA/PT on first module while the 2nd module concentrates?˜more on forensics and incident mgmt.

Knowing most companies would like to hire experienced IT Security professionals, is there really a chance for me to switch to IT security field? ?˜Are my chances high?

Perhaps start with Pen Test then grow from there? ?˜Any advise would be appreciated.

thanks!

Hi Philip, I think you have a higher chance and more opportunities than folks who don't have even IT experience. And to know u r furthering your studies in IT security field is an added advantage. I can say, there will be companies who will hire u. to put things in perspective, there's a shortfall of security professionals in singapore and that means there's a high demand.

and if u r more focused on the technical part (i.e. web PT, VA/PT), then i would say u will be even highly sought after. :)

Agree with howard, you have a higher chance in the security market. but it's still a stiff competition with those fresh grads. but coupled with ur years of experience, u should be able to produce better results. good to take up certifications such as CISA, Security , CCNA, etc... research on these and there's some citrep fundings for such courses.

Keep up the positive attitude, can one! :)
