The main worry for me is that Microsoft will not patch the vulnerability. And especially if we cannot block SMB 1.0 due to legacy apps

Why ah? I mean if the vulnerability is wide, why MS doesn't want to patch?

Well is a commercial decision not to patch. Is not just Microsoft but all vendors.
