Thoughts on "Downloaded an Android antivirus lately?You might be in for a shock"

Was reading this article and was quite bewildered. For a layman who may not be very IT-savvy, how are we suppose to know if the antivirus app does as it claims? I think the platform (in this case, Google’s Play store) where they are made available for downloads should do some screenings to minimize the risk. Who knows what is awaiting if someone really download a fake one.

yes agreed, there should be some checks but due to so many apps being uploaded daily, it may be impossible to even do any checks. maybe next time AI can help.
