Hello. I wouldnt think it's a pay cut unless u r already earning very high salary as a programmer.

I believe u will have skills to be a pentester so it will be a good advantage. as u know there's shortage of cybersecurity folks hence companies r willing to pay good money to hire theme.

All I can say is its a wise choice and just focus on it. :)

Hi Howard

Thanks for the encouragement :)

Not very sure i earning very high as a programmer. Currently my monthly salary is 4.6k before cpf.

I don't think i will be taking around my current payscale if i switch to pentester since i did not have any prior experience as a pentester except having a CEH certification.

Anyone have any idea what is the rough pay range of the pen tester in Singapore currently?

@sleepy i would reckon a pentester pay to be higher than what you are drawing now. i am a pentester myself, doing vapt, code review, etc.. and it's an added advantage tat u have a CEH cert, hope u have CISA or CISSP too. range of salary can start from 5k

Hi merlionguy

Hmm...alot of factors i guess

One of the main factors is that i have lost my passion?ÿin my current job which i have been working for around 7 years. My current job is in fact my 1st job after I graduate. ?ÿAnother factor is I also not?ÿvery happy with my upper management haha. Plus i personally think that the future of programmers or software developers in Singapore does not bore well. Hope i am wrong in my last point.

I always have interest in Computer Security so that's why i guess it is time for me to switch career.
