Actually I dunno what training to go for.
agreed that big 4 very siong. It's the experience you can gather but ya, 24/7...no much life, then again, will look good on your profile hahaaaa
Sorry to be frank, I guess whether you can last that one year or longer?ÿwill depend on your motivation for switching over to security. Nowadays security move VERY fast, so one need to be CONSTANTLY updated. You sure your interest is in this or because you see all the potential career progression? Ya, 40 yrs old not young anymore, brain may also no longer can absorb so fast, need to think hard?ÿbefore the switch. My?ÿ2 cents, if you not so sure whether this is for you, maybe join a smaller firm first, have a better understanding before you go for big 4.
For CISSP, I guess it's more?ÿfor those whom are concerned about security policies. Infra is just one aspect...

Bro Alexandra,
Thanks for the input. Seems like the security sector of the IT is growing pretty fast in the recent years. Comptia Security can do much meh? I know for USA govt jobs, comptia certifications are highly sought of and a basic requirement. Unfortunately in Singapore, people only look at branded certs like branded stuffs.
Do you think it is kinda of late for me at 40 years old to jump from infrastructure to security? I have the knowledge of security and entertained many security auditors from KPMG, EY and our regional office and I know what they were always asking. Not too complex and kinda of theory in general. Do not know whether I should just stay in infrastructure or move on to security.

Bro Moo Moo,
Sounds like alot of patterns in the security field. I think I would hate to do those log monitoring one. Kinda of boring to me. Still thinking of what to do now.

Hey guys, as an IT headhunter I feel certifications are a prerequisite for most commercial Cyber Security jobs and all defense-related IT security jobs. There are a lot of security certifications that are very well accepted and are extremely beneficial to you, ranging from basic CompTIA Security to the gold standard CISSP. Other popular ones are CISM, CISA, CRISC, CEH, GIAC etc. Vendor-specific certifications from Cisco, RSA, Symantec are also in demand.
A clients of mine recently recommends having their IT security staff pass a course such as GIAC Incident Handler so they know how to properly respond to a breach. So it really depends on the organisation is looking for.
Cyber Security is a fast-growing segment of the IT industry, You want to be valuable! so itƒ??s important you choose which ones to pursue wisely. Are you aiming to be a specialist and just focus on one specific technologyƒ??s certification track? Or, do you pick the generalist path and go for three or four different certifications? Both sounds like a lot of money and/or a ton of your time spent, but I am sure it pays off <img src="

hello. not so much on categories for IT Security but rather the scope of work involved.
if u join Big 4, then exposure will be broad as u can really do many things, pen test, scanning, security reviews, etc..
There are also junior level security jobs where one do log reviews, compliance, etc..
And if you are a guru, you will do ethical hacking, vulnerability assessment, source code review and more.. ?ÿsound chim hor?

Thanks Bro Moomoo and Bro Melvin,
Actually for it security jobs. How many categories are there?
1. Big 4 as consultants
2. SI as firewall, security engineers
3. pen test to conduct test hacking
If really very siong 24/7 is really not worth it. Considering the recent saga when people with fake credential but still managed to get through.
